WHO
WE
ARE

The story begins in the late nineties, on the crookedest street in San Francisco. It’s there where newlyweds Frank and Jessica Lonergan, fancying themselves as harbingers of contemporary culture, hosted their first salon… remembered by some as the “fondue disco installation” (or incident, depending on whom you ask).

Many years and two daughters later, the Lonergans left San Francisco to open an “outpost for contemporary art” in bucolic Portola Valley, California. From this old barn, nestled among towering redwoods, Spur Happenings was born.

For well over a decade, Spur Happenings provided its members with thoughtfully curated, art inspired events and experiences (you can see some of them here).

In 2013, the Lonergans jumped at the chance to move to Asia. From their base in Hong Kong, Frank, Jessica and their daughters took advantage of every opportunity to travel the world ~ embracing “experiences” over “things”, valuing the importance of (always) staying socially engaged, culturally relevant and relentlessly curious.

In 2022, the Lonergans returned to the San Francisco Bay Area to relaunch Spur Happenings, only this time as an experiential, membership driven travel club.

In their spare time, Frank serves with the V Foundation for Cancer Research and Jessica with Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty. In an alternative universe, Frank is a celebrated T.V. weatherman – like Al Roker – and Jessica, a respected U.S. Senator.
